Several scientific discoveries were made by accident and we'd like to know more about what's happening with this one! Cairo University graduate Maher El-Kady had unintentionally connected a small piece of graphene to an LED with a wire, causing the graphene to act like a supercapacitor, which can store large amounts of electricity. Capacitors till today have not been able to store as much electrical energy as conventional batteries, but because of this discovery, capacitors could now rival batteries in terms of storage capacity, without having to contain dangerous chemicals like acids, alkalis and toxic metals.
