Using atomistic simulations, a precise model has been successfully developed which illustrates the behavior of a graphene protection layer on platinum under different surface pressures at the atomic level. Of real interest here is that dispersing graphene in a lubricant not only acts as a wear protection layer, but also has potential for being restorative if damage should occur. Read article here
